Don't Forget the Little Things

Vitamins and Minerals

A lot of nutrition talk is about protein this and creatine that. So I wanted to bring up some other little supplements that are natural vitamins and minerals you can add to your diet before bed or when waking up to help fill the other voids we forget. If you get a little blood work done you will find you are deficient in a lot of vitamins if you don't eat much real whole food. I have 3 go-to vitamins and minerals.

This would have to be my first supplement of choice. I have taken it for a couple months and then gone off and noticed a distinct change in how I sleep. It helped me personally a lot with staying asleep and also feeling recovered when I woke up. I am excited to start taking it again to say the least. One of the main benefits of magnesium that I believe helps with sleep is its ability to help stabilize heart rhythm. It also helps reduce inflammation which comes from the trauma that is Exercise!

Vitamin D

Living in the pacific northwest this is one vitamin we definitely don't can can't get enough of. It can help with bone density and improve mood. It some studies it also had a positive effect on the respiratory system. Meaning if you hate cardio this could possibly help. Especially in the winter when you are more likely to get respiratory infections.

B Vitamins

B Vitamins help with the energy production and the detoxification of muscles. The process of building and repairing muscles depletes B Vitamins so we can reach low levels of our B Vitamins very quickly. Look for Riboflavin-5’-Phosphate (B-2), methylcobalamin (B-12), Pyridoxal-5’-Phosphate (B-6), and Benfotiamine (B-1) on the label as they are the absorbable forms your body can use Avoid HCL forms as the body can not absorb HCL forms as well you can find it on the bottle.

So get to taking those vitamins and minerals and level up those gains!
