What are they for, what are the different types and how do we use them?
Weightlifting belts are meant to help you maintain tension. The provide a kinesthetic cue to the body that allows you to maintain tension throughout the abdomen, diaphragm and pelvic floor as you create internal abdominal pressure to keep yourself upright.
TYPES OF BELTS
We have two main types of fabrics for belts leather and nylon. You can also get into differences in thickness of the belt itself when using leather to provide more support for heavy loads. In CrossFit the best type in my opinion would be nylon the only downfall to most nylon belts is they rely on velcro.

HOW TO USE THEM
As you see in the image to your right you should breath in a 360 degree pattern. This means that with your belt on you should have a 2 finger spread between you and the belt so you can breathe into the belt throughout the circumference of your core. That includes back, don't just try and belly breath this often causes hyper extension in the spine. If you are interested in a belt I hope this helps and if you have any more questions catch one of the coaches at the gym or email email@example.com.
